How GoTo works
Four things that decide whether GoTo suits you
GoTo Connect competes on simplicity and price rather than depth. For a large number of Australian small businesses that is the correct trade, and it is worth making deliberately.
Fit
Where GoTo is the right answer, and where you outgrow it
GoTo is built for small business and is honest about it. Problems arise when it is bought for a business that is about to stop being one.
It suits you when
You are a small business, price matters, your calling is voice-first and reasonably simple, and you call internationally. The published SLA is 99.999 percent, setup is fast, and there is local ANZ presence and support behind it.
Simple, cheap and international
Look elsewhere when
You are heading past small business scale, you need real contact centre routing, or AI matters. Outbound dialling comes from a third party, and you cannot bring your own carrier. For a growing contact centre 8×8 or Dialpad give you somewhere to grow into rather than a migration in two years.
Where the ceiling arrives
How we help
What a GoTo selection looks like when it is run properly
We are vendor funded, so the service costs your business nothing. On a platform this cheap the value is in avoiding the wrong choice rather than in negotiating the rate.
Check it against where you will be in three years
GoTo is a good answer for a small business and a poor one for a small business about to double. We size against the plan rather than the present.
Price the international calling properly
This is where GoTo often wins outright. We model your actual international minutes rather than accepting a country list.
Confirm what the Oceania region covers
A region on a list is not the same as your voice, recordings and transcripts sitting in it. We ask component by component.
Establish the ANZ support position
Support hours, escalation path and who answers in Australian business hours. GoTo lists this as an item to confirm in its own material.
Compare it against the alternatives at your size
Usually 3CX, Dialpad and Zoom. We put them side by side on the fields that decide the outcome.
Due diligence
What to check before you commit to GoTo
These are the items that decide whether GoTo still suits you in year three.
ANZ support hours and service levels
GoTo carries this as an open item in its own briefing material. Get the support hours, the escalation path and the response commitments in writing for Australia specifically.
Where the platform stops scaling
Ask for the concurrent call and agent limits, and Australian reference customers at the size you are growing towards rather than the size you are now.
What the Oceania region covers
Voice media, call recordings, transcripts and analytics can sit in different places. Ask for each one separately.
The outbound dialler is third party
If outbound campaigns matter, establish which product, who supports it, what it costs and whether it is inside your contract.
You cannot bring your own carrier
Trunks come from GoTo, so carriage rates and porting are part of the same negotiation as the platform. Price them explicitly.
The AI roadmap, if it matters at all
GoTo describes its AI as early. If AI features are being used to justify the purchase, ask for dates and commitments in writing, or discount them from the decision entirely.
Common questions
Questions about GoTo
What Australian buyers ask before they choose GoTo
How much does GoTo Connect cost?
GoTo is priced per user per month and sits at the lower end of the market, which is the main reason it appears on Australian small business shortlists. Carriage comes from GoTo rather than your own carrier, so trunk rates belong in the same comparison as the licence.
Is GoTo Connect good for a contact centre?
For light inbound call handling in a small team, it is adequate. For a genuine contact centre with skills-based routing, outbound campaigns and real reporting, it is not the right tool. Outbound dialling relies on a third party, and the AI is early by the vendor own description.
Does GoTo have Australian data residency?
Oceania is one of the published data regions, which is better than several competitors at this price point. Confirm what it covers: voice media, recordings, transcripts and analytics are worth asking about separately rather than as one question.
What are the main alternatives to GoTo?
3CX where concurrency is well below headcount and cost is the driver, Dialpad where AI and CRM integration matter, Zoom where the business already runs Zoom, and 8×8 where you need somewhere to grow into. Each costs more than GoTo and each gives you something GoTo does not.
Is GoTo suitable for international calling?
Yes, and it is the strongest argument for the platform. More than fifty countries are covered, which is unusual at this price. For distributed teams or businesses with offshore operations this frequently outweighs the feature gaps elsewhere.
Do you sell GoTo?
We advise on it. We are vendor funded, so the service costs your business nothing, and we hold relationships across more than thirty vendors rather than one. If GoTo is the wrong answer for your situation we will say so.
We are vendor funded and completely free to your business. Always focused on the right outcome.
Check GoTo against where your business is heading.
GoTo is a good answer for a small business and an expensive migration for one that grows out of it. Book a call and we will size it against your three year plan.
